Hong Kong becomes Asia's most popular trading center for film and television entertainment programs
Xinhuanet, Hong Kong, March 23 (Reporter Hou Liping) According to a survey published on the 23rd, Hong Kong is becoming the most popular trading center for film and television entertainment programs in Asia.
During the 11th Hong Kong International Film and Television Fair which is being held here, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council commissioned an independent consulting company to visit 332 exhibitors and buyers from all over the world. The survey shows that the overall mood of the film and entertainment industry in Hong Kong has improved, with the digital entertainment industry particularly notable. Interviewees believe that Hong Kong has become Asia's center for content supply, production, distribution, trading and film financing.
More than half of the interviewees said that they had purchased film and television entertainment programs in Hong Kong .
last year, and the other popular purchase locations were Mainland China, Japan, South Korea and Thailand in order. The survey found that more distributors will purchase video and entertainment programs in Hong Kong in the next 12 months. Respondents believe that Hong Kong is the best window to the Mainland and Asian markets.
Respondents said that in terms of movies, TV and digital entertainment , the mainland market is the market with the most growth potential. 70% of the respondents said that they will start business in Hong Kong or the Mainland in the next three years, especially companies engaged in the television industry, and about 90% of them plan to establish business in Hong Kong and the Mainland.
Interviewees believe that the Hong Kong Asian Film Investment Association is an effective way to find funds for films. The Asian film market in Busan and the Tokyo Film Festival are also popular film investment activities in Asia.
Respondents are particularly optimistic about the development of the digital entertainment industry. Ninety percent of the respondents believe that the digital entertainment industry has the most growth potential, followed by TV (78%) and movies (68%). More than 80% of the industry believe that cross-media integration can bring more business opportunities to the film and television entertainment industry, and believe that the integration of film and digital entertainment has the most potential for growth.
The survey shows that the best-selling genres of Hong Kong movies are action movies, comedies, dramas, horror movies, and animations. The most-grossing male artists in the Hong Kong film market are Jackie Chan, Chow Yun-fat, Andy Lau, Tony Leung, Jet Li; the most-grossing female artists in the Hong Kong market are Maggie Cheung, Charlene Choi, Carina Lau, Li Xinjie, and Michelle Yeoh; the best-selling directors in the Hong Kong market are Jackie Chan, Liu Weiqiang, To Qifeng, Wu Yusen and Er Dongsheng .
